Carlton Male Voice Choir - October 2014
A select audience enjoyed an evening concert of songs from the last century with the harmonic Carlton Male Voice Choir. The concert was in aid of South West Notts Explorer Scouts and introduced three of the four young people representing the local district at the 2015 World Scout Jambooree in Japan
Cantata Ensemble - June 2014
A packed church enjoyed an evening concert of songs from West End and Broadway shows. The wonderful Cantata Ensemble received the first standing ovation at a church concert for many a year. Read more...
Diamond Jubilee - March 2014
Archbishop Elect Malcolm, supported by Deacon Anthony together with present and past Priests of the Parish, said Mass for a packed congregation on Friday 21 March to celebrate 60 years since the consecration of our church.
Snowman Drive - January 2014
Back by popular demand, the manic evening of dice throwing and snowman drawing enjoyed by a large number of parishioners gathered in the parish hall. More pictures..
Summer Fair July 2013

All the usual fun of the Assumption summer fair: cakes, fair trade, craft stalls, plants, bric-a-brac, sausages, burgers, tea and scones, children's games - all accompanied by sweet music from the Mums' Choir. This year's special extra: Fr Robbie in the stocks!

Portuguese visitors August 2010

A group of 11 charming Portuguese explorer scouts (Pioneiros) and three of their leaders were staying in Stapleford for a few days and joined us for Mass at the Assumption. They sang beautifully at the offertory and after communion.

Youth Mass 2009

About 100 parishioners - young and young-at-heart - gathered at the Assumption for an uplifting and joyful youth-led Mass. Read more..
Parish walk 2009
There were two routes to choose from. The first "wheelchair- and buggy-friendly" route of about three miles ran from the Assumption around the university lake and back again. The longer, more demanding route took us through Wollaton Park too. Read more..

Altar Servers Walk to Dale Abbey August 2006

Beating Of The Bounds 2004

As part of our Golden Jubilee Celebrations, we decided to follow the medieval tradition of "Beating of the Bounds" wherein the parishioners would walk the Parish boundary, beating it with their sticks as they went. The boundaries were very important as they determined which parish received the tithes! The elders would take the boys (the elders of the future) with them on this walk and inflict some form of pain on them at the boundary marker stones so that they would never forget where the parish boundary lay!.
